Flea bites symptoms.
The flea bite is very painful and it causes sharp itching and skin inflammation. How to treat flea bites.
To get rid of fleas from animals’ bodies you should use insecticides in a form of dusts, solutions, emulsions, shampoos and sprays. When choosing a medicine you should consider the duration of its effect, toxicity for pet’s organism. In fact, the effect of the insecticide depends not only on its form but also on thoroughness of putting it on the skin of an animal.
With this purpose people use 1% of trichlorfon solution, tetremetrin, permetrin, sebacil, 0.1% of neocidol waret emulsion, 0.01% ectomin water emulsion.
It is remarkable that zoo shampoos are very effective. They are put on the skin of an animal, including the head, neck, ears and in 5 minutes you should wash it properly with the warm water. If it is necessary repeat the procedure in 10-12 days.
In fighting against the fleas extensively used trichlorfon, pyrethrum, or a mix, consisting of 50g of naphthaline, 50g of sulphur and 2 g of camphor. The anti flea powder is very effective too. Put some on the animal’s body and rub against the hair.
Flea bites on people
People can be bitten not only by human’s fleas but by dog’s, cat’s and rat’s fleas as well. Sucking the blood of rodents (rats, mice, marmots and so on), the fleas can be the carries of plague, typhus, tularemia. The flea bites can cause an allergic reaction as its saliva has a strong irritating action.

- The flea bite usually looks like a red spot which accompanies with the strong itching and a slight swelling. Later in the place of the bite small blisters appear.
- Kids are more sensitive to the flea bites than adults.
Treatment for flea bites
- Wash the bitten area with the soap solution
- Put an icepack to the bitten area. It will lessen the itch
- For removing the itch and swelling you can use the ointments with hydrocortisone, the itch can be also removed if you smear the bitten area with the cologne or alcohol.
For the successful fight against the fleas it is necessary to create all the conditions, which are unfavourable for their development. To achieve it you should regularly clean the house, get out the trash, change the carpets for pets, wash them and scald with boiling water, work it with the insecticides.
For preventive measures you can use different collars, impregnated with the insecticides.
